19 on the 19th!

This year was TJ's lucky birthday! Turning the big 1-9 on April 19th!! We had a fun day~ it went something like this:
TJ is a huge fan of breakfast, so we started the day off at I~hop (his choice)
We then went birthday shopping. This is an area where he does not take after his dad. TJ loves to shop. But unlike the girls, who take FOREVER deciding what they want, TJ already has the color, size, store, price, etc down. He has quite the shoe fetish, so that was the first stop, Zumies. He had done his bargain shopping, because he knows we only give a certain amount for birthdays, and the shoes would have practically eaten the whole budget. So he did a price match on -line and saved himself (or I should say me, $45.00!) He then picked out some summer shorts and 2 shirts and a cover for his phone. For dinner he requested homemade Alfredo Pizza ... (so yummy and fattening!) He didn't want a cake, or even ice~cream. So non- traditional huh? Shayla's comment, "Well what about the rest of us?"
He also wouldn't let me take any pictures of him because he knew it would end up on, as he refers to it, "the stupid blog!" So we had to settle for pictures of the "stuff." ( Notice how he goes for the subtle not stand out look in his wardrobe. haha)
Happy Birthday TJ! I love you, and loved spending the day with you. You have always been a bit of a mamma's boy, despite my nagging, harassment, and mothering I do! It's all out of love.

Quick update

Mckena and I took a trip with the Danceline to California! It was a lot of fun, quick, but fun! It was not a competition trip, just a fun trip. We left Thurs morning, and when we arrived, the girls got to go to a dance workshop. They loved it! Then Friday we went to Universal Studios. Saturday we went to the fashion district for some shopping, then Sunday we just relaxed out at the pool in the 80 degree weather before our flight left at 8:00 pm. It was soooo nice. I loved spending time with Kena boo.

Unfortunately while I was gone, I had to miss some of the "going ons" at home. On Friday, Shayla gave her speech and video for office. Friday after school they announced the winners. And... she did it again! Shayla is the 2nd Vice for SBO ~So proud of her. Saturday was also Shayla's first dance comp of the year. She had a great time, and her team danced well. They took three 2nd places. I hated not being there for her. Also, Sunday Rich spoke in church, and we had a friend farewell that day too!
I needed two of myself that weekend!

22 on the 22nd

March 22nd 1988

Happy Anniversary to us! Twenty two years ago, Rich and I were married. No longer do we have matching dishes, and our towels are frayed, pans are black from use, and we are in need of some home repairs, and yet I would not have it any other way, they all are a part of the story of our lives.
We met when he came to work at the bank I was working at. I was assigned to train him. That is when my heart first got all fluttery! That was in August 1987, right after he had returned from his mission. We flirted and chatted everyday at work. On October 2nd 1987, we went on our first date. Then... hold your breath, on October 19th-(17 DAYS LATER) Rich proposed, and I said yes! Crazy huh?! I use to love that story, but now I worry my kids might use that against me! I would freak if they came to me with that announcement. (Bless our parents) One of the greatest evidences Heavenly Father knows and loves me, is that he put Rich into my path. I am so blessed to have met and marry my best friend! We have had our ups and downs, but mostly ups! He is an awesome husband and dad, I am so grateful to have him in my life.
With our little unemployment spell, we are pretty broke~ so we didn't get to have much of a celebration. But that's okay... that isn't what it's all about. (at least that is what I am telling myself anyway, cause secretly I would love to be on a beach sippin a pina colada!) Although, I am very thankful to be in my home, surrounded by my kiddos, with a hubby that loves me lots, and our healthy bodies~ True happiness :)

Here we go again

Shayla had so much fun as an 8th grade officer that she has decided to run again for the 2010/2011 school year. But this time she is going for the big guns....S.B.O! I am so proud of her, she is such a go~getter type of girl. It is much more work this year. She has to do a video and give a speech. The speech part has her nervous, but I know she will do a great job.
Her theme is around I-pods. Things like "Shayla will "ROCK" as your SBO" and "Whatever you GENRE, Shayla is the best choice." "PLAY LIST from A-Z but S for Shayla is the place to be" I forgot to take pictures of her posters before we had to hang them. :(
There is only 5 students running for SBO, so there is no need for Primary elections. Posters went up yesterday. Video due next Wed, and nominating assembly will be next Friday! That is where students will watch her video, and she will give her speech.
VOTE FOR SHAYLA FOR SBO!!
